Apple & Cranberry Pie Recipe

A delectable, sweet pie combining apple and cranberry, topped with a beautiful lattice crust.

METHOD

  • Step 1.

    Preheat your oven to 200°C (180° for fan ovens).
  • Step 2.

    Peel, core and slice the apples. In a large pan, combine the sliced apple, cranberries, sugar, and cinnamon. Cook over medium heat until the fruit starts to soften, around 10 minutes.
  • Step 3.

    Meanwhile, roll out half the dough on a lightly floured surface. Fit one disk into a pie dish, leaving overhang. Trim to a 1-inch overhang.
  • Step 4.

    Fill the pie dish with the apple-cranberry mixture.
  • Step 5.

    Roll out the remainder of the dough and cut into strips. Weave these strips over the pie to create a lattice effect. Crimp edges as desired. Brush top with beaten egg.
  • Step 6.

    Bake until golden brown, around 60 minutes. Let the pie cool completely, sprinkle with icing sugar before serving.

  4. 1 tspGround cinnamon

  5. 500 gPie dough

  6. 1 Egg

  7. 1 tbspIcing sugar, for sprinkling
