METHOD
Step 1.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake tins.Step 2.
In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.Step 3.
Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the bowl. Mix until well combined.Step 4.
Gradually add the boiling water to the batter, mixing continuously. The batter will be thin, but that's okay.Step 5.
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake tins.Step 6.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the cakes comes out clean.Step 7.
Allow the cakes to cool in the tins for 10 minutes, then remove from the tins and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.Step 8.
Once the cakes are completely cooled, frost with your favourite chocolate frosting and assemble on top of each other. Top with chocolate shavings.
