METHOD
Step 1.
Carefully place your eggs in a large pot and cover them with water. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.Step 2.
Whilst the eggs are cooking, prepare your natural dye. In another pot, add 1L of water and the chosen dye ingredient. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 15-20 minutes.Step 3.
Once the eggs are boiled, cool them under cold running water and pat them dry.Step 4.
Pick the herbs you'd like to imprint on the eggs and gently press them against the egg. You can use a small piece of tights or cheesecloth to hold the herb in place by wrapping it around the egg.Step 5.
Dip the egg with the herb into the natural dye. Leave it for a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the desired intensity of the colour.Step 6.
Carefully remove the egg from the dye and remove the herb and covering. Allow the egg to dry completely.Step 7.
Rub a small amount of cooking oil over the eggs to give them a nice shine, if desired.
