Toffee Apples Recipe

Classic red toffee apples, a traditional and irresistible treat perfect for Halloween or a bonfire night.

METHOD

  • Step 1.

    Insert a wooden skewer or stick into the top of each apple.
  • Step 2.

    Add the sugar and 100ml water to a pan and heat gently until sugar is dissolved.
  • Step 3.

    Add the vinegar, syrup and food colouring. Boil until it reaches 150C or until a small amount of mixture dropped into cold water forms hard, brittle threads.
  • Step 4.

    Remove from the heat, then carefully dip each apple into the hot syrup – try to cover each one fully.
  • Step 5.

    Leave to cool on a baking tray.
  • Step 6.

    Once the caramel coating has set serve and enjoy!

  1. 6 Medium-sized apples

  2. 400 gCaster sugar

  3. 1 tbspWhite vinegar

  4. 4 tbspGolden syrup

  5. 4 dropsRed food colouring

  6. 6 Wooden skewers or sticks
