Crispy Fried Duck Gyoza Recipe

Delicious Fried Duck Gyoza, an irresistible dumpling filled with rich duck meat and spices, fried to reach a perfect crunch.

METHOD

  • Step 1.

    Mix the duck with ginger, garlic, two spring onions, soy sauce and sesame oil.
  • Step 2.

    Place a spoonful of the duck mixture into the centre of each gyoza wrapper.
  • Step 3.

    Fold the wrapper over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.
  • Step 4.

    In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over a medium heat.
  • Step 5.

    Arrange the dumplings in the pan and fry for 2-3 minutes, until the bottoms are golden brown.
  • Step 6.

    Pour in enough water to come halfway up the sides of the dumplings. Cover the pan and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Step 7.

    Uncover the pan, increase the heat and cook until the water has evaporated and the dumplings are crispy and browned.
  • Step 8.

    To make the dipping sauce add the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, red chilli flakes and spring onion.
  • Step 9.

    Serve the gyoza hot with the dipping sauce.

INGREDIENTS

  1. 100 gDuck mince

  2. 20 Gyoza wrappers

  3. 1 tbspGinger, finely grated

  4. 1 tbspGarlic, minced

  5. 2 Spring onions, chopped

  6. 1 tbspSoy sauce

  7. 2 tbspSesame oil

  8. 2 tbspVegetable oil

  9. 100 mlWater

  10. 1 tbspRice vinegar (for dipping sauce)

  11. 1 tspSesame oil (for dipping sauce)

  12. 2 tbspSoy sauce (for dipping sauce)

  13. 1 Spring onions, chopped (for dipping sauce)

  14. 1 tspChilli flakes (for dipping sauce)
