METHOD
Step 1.
Dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it stand for 10 minutes.Step 2.
Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Make a well in the mix, then add the yeast mixture, egg yolks, and vanilla extract.Step 3.
Knead until dough is smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.Step 4.
Gradually add butter, kneading to incorporate.Step 5.
Add mixed peel, sultanas, and chopped almonds.Step 6.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with cling film and let rise in a warm area until doubled in size, about 2 hours.Step 7.
Move the dough to a floured surface, divide into two pieces and shape each into a ball. Let rest for 15 minutes.Step 8.
Place each ball of dough in a baking-paper ring and let rise in a warm area until doubled in size, about 2 hours.Step 9.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the loaves with egg wash. Bake until golden, about 40 minutes.Step 10.
Let the loaves cool before slicing.
