White Bread Loaf Recipe

METHOD

  • Step 1.

    In a large bowl, combine the water, sugar and yeast. Let it sift for 5-10 minutes until the mixture is foamy.
  • Step 2.

    Stir in the salt and gradually add the flour, mixing with the dough hook until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  • Step 3.

    Knead the dough by hand on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.
  • Step 4.

    Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a clean, damp cloth. Let it rise for 2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  • Step 5.

    Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Shape it into a loaf and place in a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  • Step 6.

    Cover the loaf with a damp cloth and let it rise for 1 hour, until it's doubled in size.
  • Step 7.

    Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Bake the loaf for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  • Step 8.

    Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool before slicing.
