    Begin by preparing the bolognese sauce. In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions, garlic, and carrots. Cook until soft.

    Add minced beef to the pan, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned.
  • Step 3.

    Pour in cans of tomatoes, beef stock, and add a splash of red wine. Season with salt, pepper, and a bunch of fresh basil. Simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

    While the sauce cooks, prepare the bechamel. Melt butter in a pan over medium heat. Stir in flour to create a roux. Gradually whisk in milk until you have a smooth, thick sauce. Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
