Homemade Beer Battered Fish & Chips Recipe
Enjoy this classic British dish at home with fresh white fish, hand-cut fries and a side of tartare sauce.

METHOD
Step 1.
Peel the potatoes and cut into thin fries. Soak them in cold water for about 20 minutes to remove the excess starch.Step 2.
Meanwhile, prepare the batter. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, baking powder, and beer until it forms a smooth, thick batter.Step 3.
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large deep saucepan to 180C.Step 4.
Pat the fish dry and season both sides with salt and pepper. Dip each piece into the batter to fully coat.Step 5.
Fry the chips in batches for about 5 minutes until golden and crisp, then drain on kitchen paper.Step 6.
Fry the battered fish for 5-7 minutes until golden and crisp. Use a slotted spoon to lift out the fish, draining it well, and set it on kitchen paper to drain off any excess oil.Step 7.
Serve the fish and chips with salt, vinegar, and tartare sauce.
