Homemade Raspberry Jam Recipe

This Homemade Raspberry Jam is bursting with the natural sweetness of fresh raspberries and is perfect for spreading on toast or adding to desserts.

  • Step 1.

Wash the raspberries thoroughly and pat them dry. In a large bowl, mash the raspberries using a potato masher or fork.
  • Step 2.

Measure the mashed raspberries and transfer them to a large pot.
  • Step 3.

Stir in the granulated sugar and lemon juice. Mix well to combine.
  • Step 4.

Let the mixture sit for about 30 minutes to allow the sugar to dissolve and the flavors to meld.
  • Step 5.

Place the pot over medium-high heat and bring the raspberry mixture to a rapid boil.
  • Step 6.

Stir frequently and continue boiling for about 20-25 minutes, or until the jam thickens and reaches a temperature of 220°F (104°C).
  • Step 7.

Skim off any foam that forms on the surface during boiling.
  • Step 8.

Test the consistency of the jam by placing a small amount on a chilled plate. It should set and wrinkle when pushed with a finger.
  • Step 9.

Once the jam is ready, remove the pot from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Step 10.

Carefully ladle the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4-inch of headspace at the top. Seal the jars with sterilized lids and rings.
  • Step 11.

Process the jars in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes to ensure proper sealing.
  • Step 12.

After processing, remove the jars from the water bath and let them cool completely. As the jam cools, you'll hear a popping sound indicating that the jars are properly sealed.
  • Step 13.

Store the sealed jars in a cool, dark place. Once opened, keep the raspberry jam in the refrigerator.
  • Step 14.

Spread the delicious homemade raspberry jam on toast, scones, or use it as a topping for desserts.
