Lemon Drizzle Tray Bake Recipe

METHOD

  • Step 1.

    Preheat your oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4 and grease your baking tray.
  • Step 2.

    Beat together the butter, sugar, flour, baking powder, eggs and lemon zest until it is smooth.
  • Step 3.

    Pour the mixture into the baking tray and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Step 4.

    Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean.
  • Step 5.

    While the cake bakes. In a bowl, stir together the lemon juice and icing sugar. Slowly add the liquid to the dry until the desired consistency is reached.
  • Step 6.

    Once the cake is out of the oven, let it cool completely and then drizzle the icing over the sponge.
  • Step 7.

    Allow the cake to cool in the tray, then slice into squares and serve.
