METHOD
Step 1.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and line a loaf tin with baking paper.Step 2.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until it's light and fluffy.Step 3.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.Step 4.
In another bowl, mix together the self-raising flour and baking powder.Step 5.
Gradually add the dry mixture into the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix just until combined.Step 6.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf tin and smooth the top.Step 7.
Bake for about 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.Step 8.
Allow the cake to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
