Vegan Croissant Recipe

METHOD

  • Step 1.

    In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  • Step 2.

    Next, slowly add in the yeast dissolved in warm water.
  • Step 3.

    Once combined, add in the sugar and vegan margarine. Knead the mixture until it forms a smooth dough.
  • Step 4.

    Cover the dough and let it rise at room temperature for an hour or until it's doubled in size.
  • Step 5.

    On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a thickness of about 1 cm. Cut it into triangles.
  • Step 6.

    With the widest end of the triangle facing you, gently roll the dough towards the pointed end.
  • Step 7.

    Place the rolled dough on a baking sheet, and let it rise for another hour.
  • Step 8.

    Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Before baking, brush the croissants with soy milk for a glaze.
  • Step 9.

    Bake the croissants in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  • Step 10.

    Allow them to cool before serving.

  2. 500 gPlain flour

  3. 2 tspYeast

  4. 300 mlWarm water

  6. 50 gCaster sugar

  7. 50 mlSoy milk
