Winter Berry Trifle Recipe

METHOD
Step 1.
Begin by slicing the sponge cake and laying it at the bottom of your trifle dishes.Step 2.
Pour over the sherry, making sure that the sponge cake is well soaked.Step 3.
Scatter the mixed berries evenly on top of the sponge cake.Step 4.
Mix in half the orange zest to the custard, pour over the berries.Step 5.
Whip the double cream until thick and then spoon over the layer of custard.Step 6.
To finish, sprinkle the rest of the zest over the top and decorate with additional berries if desired.Step 7.
Let the trifle sit in the fridge for at least an hour before serving to let the flavours meld together.
