Classic Croissants Recipe

Delightful, buttery, and authentic French croissants, perfect for a luxurious breakfast or brunch.

  • Step 1.

Combine the milk, sugar, butter, salt, yeast, and eggs in a large bowl. Gradually mix in the flour.
  • Step 2.

Knead the dough on a floured surface until it is smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
  • Step 3.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 2 hours.
  • Step 4.

Roll out the dough into a 30x20 cm rectangle. Cover two-thirds of it with slices of butter.
  • Step 5.

Fold the uncovered third over the buttered center, then fold the left third over the top. Rotate the dough 90 degrees.
  • Step 6.

Roll out and fold the dough again, repeating this process 3 times. Cover the dough and chill for 30 minutes between each fold.
  • Step 7.

Cut the dough into triangles, roll them up starting from the wide end, and shape them into crescents.
  • Step 8.

Place the croissants on a baking tray and let them rise for 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
  • Step 9.

Bake for 15 minutes or until the croissants are golden brown. Let them cool on wire racks.
  • Step 10.

    Serve with jam & butter.
