Gingerbread Biscuits Recipe

METHOD

  • Step 1.

    Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan) mark 4.
  • Step 2.

    Put the butter, brown sugar and golden syrup into a pan and heat gently until melted, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 3.

    In a bowl, combine the flour, bicarbonate of soda and spices. Pour in the melted butter mixture and knead it into a smooth dough.
  • Step 4.

    Roll out the dough to an even thickness. Cut into desired shapes using a cookie cutter.
  • Step 5.

    Arrange spaced apart on baking sheets lined with baking parchment. Bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Step 6.

    Remove from oven and let them cool completely before decorating.
  • Step 7.

    Prepare the icing by adding water to the icing sugar until desired consistency is achieved.
  • Step 8.

    Fill piping bag with the prepared icing. Cut very small hole in the tip of the bag. Decorate the biscuits as desired.
  • Step 9.

    Let the icing set and then serve.
