Pumpkin Shaped Sweet Buns Recipe

METHOD

  • Step 1.

    In a large bowl, combine water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until bubbly.
  • Step 2.

    Add in the melted butter, pumpkin puree, eggs, salt, and 4 cups of flour. Mix until well combined.
  • Step 3.

    Gradually add in remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes.
  • Step 4.

    Let the dough rest in a greased bowl and cover it with a damp cloth for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  • Step 5.

    After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  • Step 6.

    Shape each piece into a ball and place it on a greased baking sheet. With a sharp knife, make cuts around the bun to resemble a pumpkin. Cover it again and let it rise until doubled.
  • Step 7.

    Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Let it cool on a wire rack.
  • Step 8.

    Once cooled poke a pecan in the top of each roll to resemble a real pumpkin.
  • Step 9.

    Serve alongside a hearty soup.
