Simple Lasagne Recipe

METHOD

  • Step 1.

    Preheat your oven to 180°C.
  • Step 2.

    In a large pan over medium heat, cook the minced beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Step 3.

    Add the cans of tomatoes and tomato purée to the minced beef. Season with salt, pepper, and mixed herbs. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Step 4.

    In another saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Bring to a boil, then simmer until thickened. Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  • Step 5.

    Spoon a layer of meat sauce into the bottom of a baking dish, then cover with lasagne sheets. Spread a layer of béchamel sauce over the pasta, then repeat the layers, finishing with béchamel on top.
  • Step 6.

    Sprinkle grated mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the final layer of béchamel.
  • Step 7.

    Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbling.
  • Step 8.

    Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
